Summary: Creator 2009
Comment: Don't waste your hard earned money on this product. I had Easy Creator 9 that I have been using until I purchased a new PC and needed new software for burning movies to DVD and making CD's. Since this came with the USB capture device, I thought I would give it a try. You have to open so many programs to capture, edit and finally burn that it is too confusing, and half the time it crashes. Thank goodness the capture device is recognized by Pinnacle ver 9. All you do on that one in three easy steps on one program is capture, edit and burn. Can't get any easier than that. Plus its difficult to get real online support from Roxio. If you want to burn CD's or rip music or load to your MP3 player etc just use Media Player ver 11. If you want to burn DVD's use Pinnacle or Microsoft Movie Maker. Save your money and use the resources you already have on your PC. I am giving it one star just because I can burn Lightscribe disks with it and even Lightscribe has a free download for burning. 2009 will also not export my Creator previous files. It isn't my PC either since I am running an Intel Core 2 Quad with 4 gigs of RAM.

Summary: Great burning software
Comment: Roxio Creator 2009 is an update to the popular Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. The update provides a much smoother and visually appealing interface than its predecessor and now supports processing HD and Blu-ray DVDs through an additional cost add-in available from Roxio. Since I do not have a Blu-ray capable reader, I did not try this add-in. The four general functions available on the main screen (Data, Video, Music, and Photo), each bring up a sub-screen with the specific features (applications) which are available in that category. Once a feature is selected (i.e., Burn Audio CDs), the application easily walks you through the steps necessary to accomplish the task.
Overall, I found the package to be very easy to use and thorough in its functionality. All functions worked flawlessly and the burn process seemed to be faster than many of other products that I have recently used (including Easy Media Creator 10). The only drawbacks that I saw during my testing were that it consumed 1.3 gigabytes of disk space and a significantly slower startup time than its predecessor. With today's gargantuan disks, the space issue is not normally a major problem. Once the initial application screen appears, the program appears to be as snappy as or snappier than its predecessor.
The one feature that I would like to see is in the Data Backup application. This application only supports backing up to an optical device. I would like to see support for backing up to other devices either internal or removable (i.e., either internal or external disk drives).

Summary: Creator 2009 - a HIT!
Comment: Creator 2009 met my expectations in creating both audio and video projects. The user interface has improved and simplified the links to a suite of numerous software applications.
Roxio now captures, creates, and copies high definition video onto low cost DVD media, as well as Blu-Ray media. It has finally fixed annoying software conflicts with my homebrew collection of new PC and old CD/DVD disk drives.
Video editing is inherently complex. Creator uses 3 applications. "CineMagic" provides fast and simple movie creation. "VideoWave" allows advanced video editing. "MyDVD" creates DVDs with optional menu.
Video online sharing is linked to [...]. I was disappointed that I was not able to increase the resolution of the movie file upload to take advantage of a new YouTube feature to display higher quality videos.
While rendering high definition files, I monitored the software performance (
) and was pleased that Creator 2009 was able to use nearly 100% capacity of my dual core processors. Importantly, the software successfully juggled software process priorities so that keyboard, display, and mouse did NOT become sluggish.
Photo sharing is provided by Roxio "OnLine". After creating a free login, I uploaded photo files, and then was offered a choice of 5 songs. I was lucky that one of the 5 songs was ideal to set the mood for my photo show. (Roxio offers a premium $service, with a choice of 100s of songs.) I seamlessly used the on-line service to sort my photos, and apply special effects, and titles. I was very pleased with the resulting photo show, which I privately shared with multiple relatives.
For my audio and video needs, Creator 2009 is a "must have" media suite.
