Summary: Works Great!
Comment: MCDRIVE 7 immediately solved my drive sharing problem between my new Macbook and my old PC. It was quick to set up and it just works. My external hard drive was a Mac-formatted G-Drive, 500 Gb. Before MacDrive, only the Mac could read it. After loading MacDrive, it's now the perfect file storage device for both machines and is a great way to move large photo and video collections between machines. Highly recommended.

Summary: Please, tell me what it DOES
Comment: G4 had a beautiful commercial campaign asking "what if Mac created its own xbox?" and it was all aflurry of non-threatening narration saying "just plug it in and it works." "But what does it do?" "Do? It's an iBox." "So where do the controllers plug in?" "With an iBox, you don't need controllers." Anyway, that's how I feel with this product. Maybe I'm not a Mac user by prenatal personality type, but this came with my computer, and I work in printing. No one here quite knows what it does, besides "lets your PC see mac files." We have an elaborate network here, and don't see any difference. MacDrive's website doesn't say what it does either, just more iPod-style affirmations, "just install it and forget you did; but it won't forget you, Dave." I really would love to be able to access my mac files from the PCs, but it isn't _magically_ happening, and apparently that's what I'm supposed to put my faith in.

Summary: MacDrive 7 Solved My Problem
Comment: MacDrive 7 did exactly what I needed it to do. In 1996 I changed jobs and went from using a Mac Powerbook to a Windows environment. I recently found that I needed to access one of my old Mac files, a MSWord document stored on a Mac formatted Iomega Zip Drive. I have a USB Zip Drive, but my Vista computer won't recognize the Mac formatted disk. MacDrive 7 allowed me to read the old Zip drive and transfer all the old Mac files to a folder on my Vista machine's hard drive. MS Word 2002 opened the old Mac formatted file flawlessly. Problem Solved.

Summary: I Wish I Could Go Lower
Comment: I bought this on the off chance I would ever see another Mac disk (it's been years). Given the business I'm in (publishing) there's always a chance a client may for some reason want a Mac. I did the install, but it wouldn't activate, saying the server could not be reached. Given that I had installed Dragon before it and the latest Acrobat after it, the problem wasn't on my end. This went on -- punctuated by uninstalls and reinstalls -- for several days, until I finally called the manufacturer, who gave me an activation code. Guess what? It STILL wouldn't activate! Even yet another uninstall and install did no good. I can only assume this software is so sloppily written that the disk it comes on is good for only three things: as a coaster, frisbee or clay pigeon. It should be zero stars, for what good is a program that won't install?

Summary: Yea Just like Everyone Says
Comment: Yea, no if and's or but's about it - in that world of VMWear (as I am) you NEED this product.... I was all ready to get rid of VMWear (and between you and me, I still might - really just buy a Windows laptop and save your self some headaches) but, with MacDrive 7 things are a thousand (even a million) times better... (but I still might just get a Windows Laptop)...
