Summary: overpriced and under-achieving
Comment: There is minor pore-clearing actions, but nothing that the price tag warrants. After a very slight improvement in skin tone, my former skin conditions returned, and my mild acne persisted per usual. This product did nothing to balance moisture levels between the more dry and more oily parts of my face. I would also not recommend this for anyone with even slightly sensitive skin.

Summary: great stuff
Comment: I bought the 3 peice set with the cleanser, clarifying lotion and moisturizer... my skin tone has evened out noticeably and my blackheads have cleared out (but this could be due to cliniques exfoliating scrub!). I recommend this line!!

Summary: I couldnt live without this stuff
Comment: My skin is very dry when i first wash it to the point where it hurts to smile, but when i purchased this the soap, and the lotion, i started using it and my skin is so flawless now. I wouldnt recommend buying this without knowing your skin type, you need to go to a place where clinique is sold and talk to one of the professionals and they will tell you what you need. Its not something that will make pimples dissapear like the other person said in their review but its something that improves the skin on your face. Clinique offers other things for pimples so get that if its what you need. Of course this clarifying lotion will burn like all the other ones do, but its not a bad burn if you do it RIGHT AFTER you wash your face, the longer you wait the more it will burn, not sure why.

Summary: Too Much Alcohol
Comment: You can smell the alcohol when you open the bottle. The mild clarifying lotion is better (There's no number. It's a milky light green lotion). I've found that if you really want this to work, you have to use all 3 in the Clinique 3-step system (The soap, the clarifying lotion, followed by the yellow lotion/gel)

Summary: WAY too harsh!
Comment: I've always had good skin. Never oily, not acne prone, not overly sensitive, or any other common skin problems. I had always just used drugstore skin care products, and never had any problems with them. But one day, I went to the mall and happened to look around at the Clinique skin care system. After doing the "skin type survey", the salesgirl ended up talking me into buying the entire 3-step system (mild facial soap, clarifying lotion 2, and moisturizing gel). I was concerned about using the clarifying lotion because of it's high alcohol content (that much alcohol CAN'T be good for your face), but I was assured with "oh, it's a COSMETIC alcohol, so it's non-drying". I thought I would give it a try, it seemed to be popular enough...
Within a month my skin was very oily, red, and my forehead was COVERED in bumps. I didn't know what was going on! I had never had problems before, and if I did break out they were never on my forehead. I went and saw a dermatologist, and they asked me what I had been using for my skin care regimen. Low and behold, she told me to NEVER put alcohol-based products on my skin, as it completely sucks all of the needed moisture out, and therefore your skin excretes oil to try and make up for all of the moisture that it's losing. I immediately stopped using the entire Clinique line, and have since switched to Dermalogica (more money but MUCH better for your skin).
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to steer clear of all products containing harsh ingredients such as alcohol, menthol, and artifical color. My skin is back to normal now, but it took a LOT of time, not to mention a prescription to fix the damage that this product caused my skin. I would only recommend this product to someone who has skin made of steel.
