Summary: Life saver
Comment: First of all, it was really nice to see that there are other women out there with insane periods. I also used to use Super/Super plus tampons, and find myself running into the bathroom every hour (hour and a half on super plus) to change them. I always wore a heavy absorbency pad with the tampon, just in case...until these.
Though they only last just over three and a half hours on my worst days, that's still almost three times as long as the other brands last.
Another great feature with these are the reduced size from the lack of applicator. Before, I had to carry a pretty big bag in my backpack just to store the ten super absorbency tampons I'd go through in a normal day away from home on bad days. A full day's worth o.b tampons fit into really discreet containers...(think altoids can and smaller!)
Now all I want to see is o.b. make a multi-pack for the heavy bleeding girls...those things are a total joke.

Comment: It's about time!! If your heavy flow dominates and dictates your days and nights during your period, than this may be for you!! A lifestyle saver! (boating, biking, concerts/movies, even the beach!!) You get to go about your days and sleep at night without the constant anxiety of an accident. I sometimes felt that I just couldn't deal with the stress of going out. I had to excuse myself every hour "for maintinance" and was worrying about leaks the rest of the time. These tampons make things a bit more "normal".
The Ultras are not easily found or reliably stocked anywhere near me.
Naturally, they are much larger than other tampons. I don't know if they would work with very young women. Additional lubrication may be needed at times for a good, leak-free fit.

Comment: O.B. Ultra is the answer to the prayers of heavy bleeders, and it's worth any extra cost for shipping. This item isn't carried everywhere, so sometimes you have to order them and wait. It's worth the wait. Over many years, I've tried just about everything else out there, and this is the only product which can deal with the heaviest flow. I'm not a scientist, and I haven't done any controlled experiments with these things, but my experience tells me they're about twice as absorbent as the O.B. Super Plus tampons. Read: they do the job about twice as long. Other brands only offer something about as absorbent as that Super Plus variety, which means the O.B. Ultra is really the only thing on the market to really make a difference in the lives of those of us who suffer from an overly heavy period.
If you've ever had a period bad enough to keep you home, unable to even make it to the grocery store or post office, for fear of bleeding all over yourself, then this product is for you. Sure, heavy bleeding like that shouldn't be considered normal, but, if you have to deal with it, then you know how uncomfortable, inconvenient, irritating, and a lot of other negative adjectives it can be. I've tried a lot of products over many years, and, even though tampons have improved overall over the decades, this is what I've relied on now for several years. I go out of my way to get them, and routinely order them online, just to have them. They are worth every penny and the wait as well!

Comment: I was so happy when OB finally came out with these Ultra Absorbency tampons.
I love OBs and use their regular absorbency (pink) instead of a pantyliner when it's not my period. The super (green) and super plus (yellow) are what I used to use during Aunt Flo's visits. But because I bleed a lot, I always had to change every hour or two, even occasionally putting two in at a time out of desperation.
As soon as I spotted Ultra Absorbency (purple) on a store shelf a few years ago, I lunged at it.
