Summary: Not too shabby
Comment: I was instructed by a friend to purchase the Chi flat iron. But, I decided that since I was new to flat irons, I'd go with one of the more reasonably priced models. This one definitely is a good buy, and provides the most bang for the buck. It smooths and straightens very well, giving my fine, bendy hair a sleek look. Before I discovered the awesomeness of this flat iron, I would just blow dry my hair, straightening it as well as I could with a big round brush. It was ok in the morning, but throughout the day, my hair would frizz and develop a big flip out like "Ramona Quimby, Age 8." (if anyone remembers what her hair looked like on the cover of this Beverly Cleary book). But after I started using the Andis flat iron, my hair is a million times better. Not only is it sleek and smooth, but it stays that way even if it's a humid day. No more Ramona Quimby look. I guess you could say that it changed my life. I also would mention that I can go longer between haircuts with this flatiron b/c it makes my hair more manageable even when my style is getting overgrown. I would definitely recommend this product. Go buy it.

Summary: doable
Comment: This flat iron is doable. Is does make my hair straight. If you squeeze it too tight when on your hair it will leave marks so hold it loosely. Otherwise it does what it is supposed to do.

Summary: Great value for money
Comment: I was so tempted to buy one of those $100+ hair irons. But thanks to the reviews on Amazon, I bought this one. I think this is one of the best value for money items that I have ever bought. The iron is smooth and heats up very fast. I usually keep it at about 10, sometimes between 10 and 15 and it does a good job of straightening my wavy hair. Add a little thermal protection cream and I am all set for 2-3 days without reusing it.

Summary: Probably nice - if it worked
Comment: I bought this because my straightener of five years is, well, in need of replacement.
Having short-to-medium length hair, I thought that a smaller size would be perfect.
I bought this particular straightener because it was so highly rated. But I returned it the day after I first turned it on. Why? Because it did not heat up properly. I put it on the highest setting because my hair is thick and difficult to straighten, and then promptly forgot about it. When I came back to it half an hour later, it was warm, but not hot. I could touch the ceramic plate with my finger.
Needless to say, back in the box it went and my old tired straightener needs to work a bit longer until I can bring myself to try again.

Summary: Awesome value
Comment: This is one great flat-iron! I was so lucky to find one that gets adequately hot and is durably made for only $23. I'd recommend it to anyone. I have very fine hair that needs high heat, and it holds its style until the next morning when I wash my hair again!
